How Beloved is a one-time program that revisits some of the first music Evergreen Ensemble ever performed, re-imagined within the context of the ensemble’s third season.

The concert traces a throughline of praise, gratitude, and responsibility, drawing on psalmic texts and music that reflect on the beauty of the world we’ve been given and the call to steward it with care. These themes of wonder, humility, and hope are paired with music that looks forward, asking how communities can remain attentive, rooted, and generous toward what comes next.

Alongside earlier repertoire, the program includes newer works that expand and deepen these reflections, including Caroline Shaw’s And the Swallow. Together, the music forms a meditation on love for the world, for one another, and for the shared future we help shape.

How Beloved offers a chance to look back with gratitude, return to foundational ideas, and continue building something living and meaningful from them. This special program is an added offering within Season 3 and is included for current concert members.
